Alice L Schindel

TISKILWA - Alice Louise (Polson) Schindel, 86, of Tiskilwa, Illinois, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 27, at Liberty Village in Princeton, IL surrounded by her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend to everyone she crossed paths with. A visitation for Alice will be held on Thursday, November 2, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments in Princeton, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 3, at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments in Princeton, IL, officiated by Pastor Bonita Micheletti. Graveside services will follow at Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Princeton, IL. Alice was born November 10, 1936 in Princeton, IL, the daughter of Glen and Dorothy (King) Polson. She married David Schindel on July 24, 1955, at the First Lutheran Church in Princeton, IL. Alice's family meant the world to her. She is survived by four children, Judy Schindel of St. Louis, MO, Janice (Tom) Bickett of Tiskilwa, Joyce (Greg) Wallace of Walnut, and Joan (Larry) Jackson of Princeton; one daughter-in-law, Margo Schindel of Tiskilwa; thirteen grandchildren, Hailey (Eric) Schaefer, Austin (Elise Blocki) Schindel, Jarek Elliott, Kenney (Katie) Jones, Janelle (Jim Mennie) Jones, Adam (Malinda) Bickett, Elaina Bickett, Zachary (Allie) Wallace, Izabel Wallace, Julia (Cole) Jeffery, Angelica Jones, Ben Jackson, Brody Jackson; and ten great grandchildren, Raegan Schaefer, Lainey Schaefer, Hattie Schaefer, Avery Sims, Alivia Jones, Mya Bickett, Violet Bickett, Lydia Bickett, Brodin Bickett, and Kyler Jeffery. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, David E. Schindel on January 10, 2021; one son, Raymond Schindel on February 9, 2022, her parents, Glen and Dorothy (King) Polson, three brothers, Virgil, Mervin, and Merle Polson, and one sister, Gladys Madsen; three grandsons, Justin Schindel, Brandon Bickett, and Noah Bickett. Alice graduated from Tiskilwa High School with the class of 1954. She was a homemaker and worked at Princeton High School for 22 years as a food service worker, retiring in 1999. She was a longtime and very active member of the First Congregational Church in Bureau, IL, serving in many capacities, including a Sunday School teacher for many years, and serving as church treasurer for over 50 years. Alice will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family and friends, her strong faith, and her work ethic. One of her joys was taking care of others, including her husband, her mother, mother-in-law, and siblings. Alice enjoyed cooking and baking, working in the yard and garden, and fishing with David at the lake. She also enjoyed feeding and watching the squirrels and birds in her yard. Alice was a woman of great faith and you could find her reading her Bible most mornings. Her greatest accomplishment was her family, and she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also loved to attend the events of her children and grandchildren when she was able. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Congregational Church of Bureau, IL.
