Dover - John Jacob Welsh, born on September 27, 1956, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at his home in Dover, Illinois. John was born in Princeton, IL, on September 27, 1956 to the late Lawrence Raymond and Emiline (Seiz) Welsh. He graduated from Princeton High School, Class of 1974. John married Jeannie Ranae Harris on July 6, 2009 in Sheffield, IL. Throughout his life, he took on many roles, working as a truck driver, produce stand operator, farm worker, and construction worker. Eventually, he combined all his skills to become a handyman, truly embodying the term "jack of all trades." John was a devoted member of Dover Bible Church. He found joy in many hobbies, including fishing, camping, hunting, gardening, collecting trinkets, and rug making. He also loved visiting flea markets and car shows. Above all, he had a generous heart, always willing to help others and devotedly serving the Lord. In sickness, John was caretaker for his ex wife, Janet (Doyle) Welsh, his mother-in-law, Eleanor Doyle, and Tamara Welsh Herout. Surviving John, his sisters Alice (Hobart) Rohrig from Walnut, IL and Barbra (Jeff) Williams of Princeton, IL, Teresa Musick of Quincy, IL, Laura Bence of Princeton, IL Geri Musick of Quincy, IL and one brother Melvin (Pamela) Welsh from Prattville, AL. Nieces and Nephews, Rebecca Smith, Jennifer Hansen, Emma Hansen, Amy Milan, Ashley Howell, Brandie Szuda, Justin Williams, Timothy Musick, Matthew Gray, Damien Gray, Olivia Wagy, Cameron Wagy, Angeleia Wagy,; as well as numerous great nieces, nephews and cousins and lifelong friend, caretaker, and would-be girlfriend, Linda Wallace of Princeton, IL. Preceded in death by parents Lawrence Welsh and Emiline Welsh, his wife Jeannie Welsh, one brother Robert Welsh, uncle Paul Welsh and Uncle John Welsh, and Aunt Shelby Welsh. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Dover Bible Church. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Dover Bible Church on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 10:30 AM Pastor Jerry Wade officiating.
