David L Anderton

Sheffield – David L. Anderton, 60, of Sheffield, IL passed away at his home, surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, April 11, 2020. David was born on February 2, 1960 to the late Leon and Peggy (Thompson) Anderton in Athens, TX. He was a graduate of ARP High School, Class of 1978. He married his love, Darlene Jones on December 9, 1983 in Tyler, TX. He worked for Purdy Brothers Trucking for 25 years. He then worked his favorite job as a BPART driver in Princeton, IL. He served in the United States Airforce from 1978 to 1980. He loved fishing, especially at the local canals. He was really an outdoorsy kind of guy. He enjoyed hunting and boating. David loved to read, especially suspense novels. He was quite the cook as well, his favorite times were spent over a good meal with loved ones talking about the one that got away. David is survived by his wife of 36 years, Darlene (Jones) Anderton; three children, Jessica (Jonathan) Dunn of Texas, Peggy Vigor of Chadwick, IL and Michael Anderton of Sterling, IL; eleven grandchildren, Araya, Alec, Lahela, Elijah, Michael Jr., Luka, Savanna, Akela, Bristol, Skylar and Kamdan; two sisters, Diana (Chuch) Smith and Susan Anderton; and his mother-in-law, Shirley Matlock; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Peggy Anderton, one brother Kenneth Anderton and his father-in-law, Charles Jones. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
