Doris Evelyn Neill

Princeton - Doris Evelyn Neill passed away at home in Arlington, Illinois on December 1, 2022. Doris was born February 4, 1921 at home in rural LaMoille, Illinois to Howard J. and Anita C. Rapp. She attended a rural one-room elementary school and graduated as Salutatorian from LaMoille High School, Class of 1939. Following high school, she was a secretary at the H.D. Conkey Company of Mendota and later at LaMoille High School. She married William H. (Herb) Neill on September 25, 1945, and he preceded her in death on December 11, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her son, William (Bill) J. Neill. Survived by daughters Lea McCall and Patti Ehmen (Glenn Goodlet) and daughter-in-law Mary Neill; surviving are eight grandchildren: Jennifer (Scott) Reel, Dana (Eric) Button, Casey (Stacy) Neill, Brooke (Josh) Simmons, Lindsay Neill, Brenna (Ben) Ehmen, Patrick (Vanessa) Neill, and Allison Neill; as well as being blessed with eight great-grandchildren: Jaelen Russell; Kyle, Hannah, Kelsey and Noah Button; Scarlett and William Neill; and Rillé Simmons. Her greatest joys were her family and the farmland. She was a proud farmers wife with two Sesquicentennial farms in the family and actively helped with the spring planting and fall harvests as well as remembering making big meals to feed the threshing workers in her childhood. She was known for her kindness, generosity and beautifully handwritten cards and notes to family and friends. A special thank you to Home Instead and In-Home Care Connection for their compassionate, dignified, and personal care during her stay in hospice at home. A visitation will be held at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Services for Doris will be held at Norberg's on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Bill Jacobsen and Pastor Jeffrey Green as well as soloist Ronald Moore.
