Dorothy E Herrick

Princeton - Dorothy Ellen Herrick, 96, of Princeton, IL passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Manor Court in Princeton surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born in Princeton, IL on February 9, 1927 to the late Ernest and Lillian (Eickmeier) Traynor. She was a graduate of Princeton High School, Class of 1945. She married her high school sweetheart, Leland Herrick on July 8, 1945 at the First Baptist Church in Princeton, IL. They started their family and raised their three children, Sharon, Linda and Tim in Princeton. She worked as an Activities Director at the Roosevelt Square Nursing Home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Princeton and very active in the church as well as arranging missionary group trips at the church. Dorothy enjoyed needle point, crafting and sewing. She had the ability to create something out of nothing and it would become a thing of beauty. She enjoyed working in the garden with her flowers and vegetables as well as reading a good book. She was active with her church community and loved spending time with her family. Surviving Dorothy are her three children, Sharon Fitzgerald of Las Vegas, NV, Linda (Eugene) Jeffery of Wyanet, IL and Tim (Joan) Herrick of Mauritania; seven grandchildren Michelle (Paul) Rispoli of Las Vegas, NV, Amy Novak of Las Vegas, NV, Jennifer (Darrell) Hansen of Galva, IL, Joe Hansen of Princeton, IL, Nick (Jeff) Herrick of Portland, OR, Sam Herrick of Portland, OR. and Jim Ince; fifteen great grandchildren, Josh Ince, Cassie Darby-Ince, Parker Taylor, Brandy Balensiefen, Bailey Taylor, Brooklyn Taylor, Natalie Novak, Emma Novak, Emma Novak, Riley Novak, Jakob Ebner, Kylie Ebner, Kaegan Hansen, Cayden Hansen, Kinzley Hansen, Haisley Hansen; seven great-great grandchildren, Brezlyn, Byer and Beckett Ince, Zendaya and Damian Darby-Ince and Castyn Hill. Preceded in death by her parents Lillian and Ernest Traynor, spouse of 62 years, Leland Herrick (12/27/2007), and one granddaughter, Patti Ince. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wyanet Rescue Unit in Wyanet, IL. A visitation for Dorothy will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Services to follow on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments, officiated by Pastor Joe Bates, soloist Clare Suarez, organist Cheryl Bebej; Pallbearers: Parker Taylor, Kaegan Hansen, Cayden Hansen, Nick Herrick, Sam Herrick, Josh Ince and Jim Ince. Graveside services to follow at Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Princeton, IL with a few final words by Pastor Joe Bates.
