Edwardine Helen Gross

Princeton - Edwardine Helen Fahs Gross 95, of Walnut passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 very peacefully, with her family by her side at Allure-Heritage Manor in Walnut, IL. Edwardine, lovingly known as Eddie her entire life was born on January 28, 1928 in Ohio, IL to the late Edward and Florence (Albrecht) Fahs. She was a graduate of Ohio High School, Class of 1946. Soon thereafter she married Virgil "Buzz" Gross on October 18, 1947 at St. Matthews Lutheran Parsonage in Princeton, IL. Eddie worked at Perry Memorial Hospital, Nelson Drug Store and Sutliffe Furniture. She retired from Princeton Elementary as Cafeteria Manager. She was a member of the Red Oak United Methodist Church before marrying Virgil. She then became a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, antique shopping, traveling to 49 of the 50 States and most of all being with her grandchildren and attending their activities. Her competitive side showed during her croquet games, golfing and playing cards. Surviving Eddie are her three children, daughter Terry (Bob) Rapp of Princeton, IL and two sons, Steve (Pam) Gross and Jack (Karen) Gross both of Princeton, IL; seven grandchildren, Vincent Rapp, Douglas (Jessica) Rapp, Andrew (Elizabeth Johnson) Rapp, Rachel (Jason) Savage, Shelby (Pat Cinotte) Nunn, Bill (Sarah) McGimpsey and BJ (Ashley Durbin) Sparks; great grandchildren, Kortnie, Jaclynn, Adam, Eli, Mason, Riley, Brixen Rapp, Eliza, Stella and Rowan Savage, Austin (Tess), Brayden DeBates, McKenna Christiansen, Sean and Xavier McGimpsey, Cora Sparks, June Durbin, Darrin and Madisen Hoyt, and Landon Alexander; and one great great-grandchild, Beau DeBates. Preceded by her husband Virgil Gross, parents Edward and Florence Fahs, one brother Jack Fahs and a sister Anna Mae Pedersen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Princeton, IL. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Services to follow at Norbergs Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Gene Vincent, accompanied by organist Cheryl Bebej. Graveside services to follow at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Princeton, IL.
