Gerald R Carver

Princeton - Gerald "Jerry" Raymont Carver, age 84, passed away peacefully in Normal, Illinois, on June 30, 2026. Jerry was born in Spring Valley, Illinois, to Everett and Naida Carver on March 30, 1942. He attended LaMoille High School, where he was a three-sport athlete, and graduated in 1961. In 1962, Jerry married Linda Husser. They shared 26 loving years together until her passing in November, 1988. In 1989, he married Dorothy Champley Nelson, and they shared 37 wonderful years together. Jerry was a happy, loving man who never met a stranger. He and Dorothy enjoyed traveling and living in their motor home, creating many cherished memories along the way. He was happiest around his family cracking jokes and teasing the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a wonderful role model serving his community and church over the years. He had been a 4-H leader, a member of the Lions Club, and served on the church council at St John's Lutheran Church on the Hill. Throughout his career, Jerry worked for Sundstrand, Jostens, and Bureau Service Company. He was also a lifelong farmer, a role that reflected his dedication, work ethic, and love for the land. Jerry is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his children, Shelley (Neil) Corban, Jeffrey (Angela) Carver, Debra Everly, Diane (Dan) Lade, and Dave (Kelly) Nelson; his 18 grandchildren, Jonathon (Heather) Lauf, Jennifer Lauf, Matt (Emily) Everly, Ryan Everly (Anna Goshinska), Josh (Carlie) Everly, Jake Everly, Zack (Emily) Everly, Sophia Everly, Katelyn Everly, James Armstrong, Luke Armstrong, Natalie Lade, Julia Lade, Caleb Lade, Ben (Jenna) Nelson, Rachel Nelson, Sam Carver, and Maddie Carver; and his 5 great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Dean and Ferris Lauf, and Olivia and Theo Everly. He is also survived by his brother Jim (Roberta) Carver, his sisters Linda (Roger) Harvey, Beverly Carver, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda; his infant son, Alan; his parents, Everett and Naida Carver; his brother, Bill Carver, and a nephew Paul Harvey. Visitation will be at held at the First Lutheran Church, 116 N. Pleasant Street, Princeton, IL 61356 at 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, Friday July 3, 2026. Funeral services will be at noon with burial following at St John's Lutheran Church on the Hill. Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church.
