Janice Marie Heaton

Princeton - Janice Marie Heaton, 87, of Princeton, IL. passed away at Heritage Health in Walnut, IL on Tuesday, December 20th, 2022 at 9:15 a.m. surrounded by her loving family and staff members of Heritage Health and Vitas. Janice, born January 4th, 1935 to the late John and Elizabeth (DeBlieck) Bomleny in Mineral Township, IL. She was a graduate of LaMoille High School, Class of 1952. She was Homecoming Queen and a cheerleader. She was a beauty inside and out. She married the love of her life Richard (Dick) Heaton on July 15th, 1955 in Dixon, IL. Dick passed away on September 19, 2011. Their love ever enduring they are together again. She was a co-founder/Broker with the late Terry Ellberg of the Bureau Valley Realty in 1994. Together they ran one of the most successful real estate businesses in the area for 18 years. They employed up to 15 real estate agents at one time. The business excelled, even before, "Women in Business" became a thing. She worked a total of almost 40 years in real estate. Her clients she considered her extended family. Even on vacations, she worked. Calling her clients and making sure they had what they needed. She will mostly be remembered for her level of professionalism, business ethics and being a kind and genuine person. Her greatest loves were her grandchildren, it sounds so cliché, but true. Any time she could spend with them was time well spend. She enjoyed attending their sporting events, plays, talking with them about their lives, helping her hammer in real estate signs, taking them to Disney World, was one of the most memorable vacation with the grandkids and family. That was just one of many vacations the family went on together. She loved taking them to plays in Chicago, attending concerts or just a simple going for a stroll. Janice was community driven and enjoyed helping where ever needed. She loved being a part of everything Princeton. She was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Princeton, along with being on the Church Board for several years. She enjoyed being a member of the Princeton Rotary Club, you cannot count the hours she helped Dick and her Fire Department Family, she even was a Fire Bell several years running. She also enjoyed her free time playing bridge with her "Ya-Ya Sisters" Marsha Hudson, Caroline Butterfield and Shirley Schmidt. The laughing was endless when these four were together. Enjoyed the plays at Festival 56. Boating with each other's family and friends. Surviving Janice, three daughters, Susan Heaton of Frankfort, IL, Karen Heaton of Princeton, IL and Elizabeth (Beth) Heaton of Princeton, IL.: six grandchildren, Joshua (Heather) Olinger, Dustin (Ruth) Hale, Richard M Heaton, Alexander R. Heaton, Hope Cowan, Hannah Heaton; Two great grandchildren, Devin and Kinsley Olinger; One sister, Pat Anson and stepbrother, Jerry (JoAnn) Bomleny. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard (Dick) L. Heaton of 56 years (09/19/11), her daughter, Diane E Heaton (12/07/2016), her sister, Lois Beaber and stepmother, Hazel Bomleny. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Heaton-Hudson Memorial Scholarship in honor of her husband, late Richard "Dick" L Heaton and late Mark Hudson in Janice's name. Following Janice's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Funeral services will be scheduled in the spring, as we know our mother loved new beginnings and to celebrate her life during a beautiful season.
