Princeton - Judy Marie (Fritz) Bland, the first born of Bobie and Marggie Fritz. She was born on March 3, 1944 in Princeton, IL. She passed away on the evening of November 17th, 2023 at her home in Princeton, IL surrounded by her family. Judy Fritz grew up in the Princeton area and graduated from Princeton High School, Class of 1962. She met the love of her life, Arthur Edward Bland, in 1960 at Vitale's Pizzeria. They married July 15, 1962. Their union lasted exactly 61 years to the day when Art passed away in the early morning hours this past July 15, 2023. As a teenager, she was employed at the Dog N' Suds restaurant on the east side of Princeton. Many people in Princeton may remember her smiling face from the Eagle's supermarket where she worked for many years until her retirement in 2003. Her retirement was not only well deserved, but it provided her the opportunity to dedicate her heart and soul to being the very best Grammy possible to Emma, Nathan and Jacklynn. She made it to every football game, soccer game, dance recital, choir concert or award ceremony, come rain or shine, you would not keep Grammy away! Judy enjoyed camping and traveling the country. She especially enjoyed trips to warmer destinations. She grew to be a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan over the years. Her favorite pastimes were: entertaining, a.k.a. spoiling the grandchildren, shopping trips with her daughters, Margo and Michelle, or having coffee or lunch with girlfriends. She has maintained friendships for as long as she has walked the earth. She loved to read, weather permitting, it would be on the deck, a place she loved sitting and watching the birds at the feeder. Playing cards with her family was something she grew up doing, even though they all say she was a total card shark. Honestly, she just loved the togetherness of it all. She loved her family, she loved her husband and took care of him until his last breath, she loved her daughters and missed Monica every day, she loved her parents, her siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be greatly missed by many, but none more than her family. Surviving are her two daughters, Margo (Fred) Cartwright and Michelle Mosier, both of Princeton; three grandchildren, Emma (Brodi) Proffitt of Mokena, IL, Nathan Mosier and Jacklynn Cartwright of Princeton, IL.; one God daughter, Rachel Curtis of Princeton, IL.; five sisters, Ginger (Robert) Kitterman of Oglesby, IL, Lezlie (Tom) Fisher of Princeton, IL., Lisa (Eddie) Young of Princeton, IL., Lori Fritz of Princeton, IL., Letty Fritz of LeClaire, IA; one brother, Bobie (Sara) Fritz Jr. of Princeton, IL., as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobie and Marggie Fritz, her husband of 61 years, Arthur Bland, one daughter, Monica Lynn Bland, one sister, Dixie Albright, a dear nephew Tyler Fisher and one God daughter, Amy Hanna. The family would like to acknowledge the hospice team at In-Home Care Connection. We are forever grateful for the comforting care and kindness you showed Judy and Art, as well as the many visitors, from calls, to text, to people coming by, we are very grateful. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or St. Judes. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments in Princeton, IL., from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Services for Judy will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments. Officiated by our good friend, Pastor Darin Jones. Graveside services to follow, Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Oakland Cemetery, with a word of comfort from Pastor Darin Jones.
