Marian Grace Sankey 1930 – 2014 PRINCETON – Marian Sankey, age 83, passed away early Monday morning September 15, 2014 at Liberty Village in Princeton. Funeral services will be Friday, September 19, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Princeton. Pastor Scott Schmidt will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church during a visitation from 10:00 until 11:00 AM prior to the service. Marian was born on October 16, 1930 to Frank and Irene (Spurr) Lijewski at St. Mary’s Hospital in LaSalle, IL. She was then later adopted at the age of 13 by her father Henry Marzetta. She graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School in 1948. She worked the better part of her adult life as a sales clerk for Larson’s Furniture, but what she really enjoyed given many opportunities was to help folks with their interior decorating and placement of the furniture purchased. She married William Martuzzo of Ogelsby and had three sons who survive. She later married John Robert “Bob” Sankey on May 20th, 1984. Together with Bob, they travelled extensively which included many a winter in Florida. Both here and there she loved spending time with friends going to movies and finding new places to dine out each Friday evening. Back home in Princeton she loved being a part of several Breakfast Clubs. She loved writing Poetry. Surviving Marian are her three sons; David (Linda) Martuzzo of Peru, IL, Steven (Elsa) Martuzzo of Pontiac, IL, Michael (Doria) Martuzzo of Elgin, IL; and five grandchildren Julie (Matt Hayes) Martuzzo of St. Charles, MO, Jennifer Martuzzo of Joliet, IL, Matt Martuzzo of Chicago and Melissa Martuzzo of Peru, IL, Tammy (Steve) Meyers of Princeton; also two great-grandchildren Jerrica Hwang of Joliet and Hannah Meyers of Princeton, and a brother-in-law Donald Sankey of Rockford, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her aunts Darlene Focken, Mabel Zenzen, Florence Mason, her uncle Bill Spurr and her sister-in-laws Judith Sankey and Bonnie (Bob) Herron.
