Mary E. Hall 1927-2015 Funeral service for Mary E. Hall, age 87 of Princeton, formerly of Mt. Carroll, will be Monday, Jan 05, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton. Father Jeffrey Stirniman will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery on Jan 05, 2015. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Jan 04, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton. Mary Ellen Hall, passed away peacefully on January 1 with family at her side. Mary was born on April 20, 1927 to John and Florence (Darr) Halfman in Thomson, Illinois. She graduated from Thomson High School in 1945. On February 12, 1946 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Lowell Hall. They had 7 children together. He passed away November 9, 1995. Mary was a hard working woman who loved gardening and then canning and freezing her harvests for the family. She made the most delicious bread and her kids loved coming home after school to the wondrous concoctions she had baked. She was an avid bowler, placing 4th in Nationals in the 1990’s. She traveled to many locations for tournaments with her bowling team. She was a partner with her husband in his contracting business, taking care of the bookwork. She loved to watch baseball, especially the St Louis Cardinals and the Chicago White Sox. Her family was the most important thing to her and she dearly loved each of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and extended family. She loved life. Her own mother once said she had to keep Mary in check because she was always laughing, which was strictly prohibited in church! She brought joy to so many people. Mary is survived by 3 daughters: Susan (Richard) Dikeman, Clinton Iowa; Linda (Dale) Heinkel, Freeport; Donna Burgh, Ottawa and 3 sons: Tom (Becky), Mike and Shawn, all of Princeton. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Megan Loecke, Erin Wilhelms, Shanin Thompson, Joe Zinanni, Kris Hall, Katie Baldwin, Kirsten Burgh, Brody, Calli and Izzy Hall, Lindsay Davis and Alli Hall. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren: Macy, Myla, Lucy, Trudy, Vera, Laney, Drew, Mia, Bryce, Emelia, Braden, Jaxon and Cecelia. She is survived by one brother, Eugene Halfman of Argo Fay, IL., and one sister, Frances Burkholder of Freeport, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell and their son Brian, her parents, and 3 brothers Laurence, John and William Halfman. Memorials may be directed to The American Heart Association.
