Pamela Anne Grenier

Pamela Anne Grenier peacefully passed away on September 9, 2023 at OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria with her family by her side. She was born in Princeton on February 5, 1941, the daughter of Phillip and Ella Batson. Pam and her older brother, Lowell, were both raised in Princeton, Illinois. She married Virgil Bartman in 1956 and together they had 7 children, Cinthia (John) Zolper, Victoria (Tom) Schertz, Joseph (Mary) Bartman, Crystal (Bill) Vowels, Douglas (Veronica) Bartman, Elizabeth Bartman and Michael (Elise) Bartman. In addition to her 7 children at the time of her passing, she had 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by all those who knew her. Pamela and her family moved to Tiskilwa in 1977. She and Virgil eventually separated, and Pam remarried to Jim Grenier in 1982. They shared 10 years of marriage before separating ways. She remained a steadfast resident of Tiskilwa until her passing. Whether it was taking neighbors to doctor appointments, taking care of their pets, or just having them in her kitchen for coffee every morning, Pam was known as a good friend and neighbor. She looked forward to hosting Sunday morning breakfasts. Her kitchen was a place of meaningful, contested, and debated conversations with family and friends on every subject under the sun. Pam wore many caps throughout her lifetime, from a farmer's hat to a steel worker's hard hat and a gardening sunbonnet. She worked as a farmer, bus driver, landscaper, and a steel worker. After 26 years of dedicated service, she retired from LTV Steel, Hennepin. Although retired, Pamela remained very busy doing things she loved. She could be found most days digging in her garden, planting new flowers and trees or birding. She enjoyed painting, sewing, playing cards, and teaching her grandchildren to play chess. It was not uncommon to catch Pamela with a crossword puzzle or a good book. She took local classes on plumbing and stained glasswork. She was handy with tools and was never afraid to tackle a home project. In fact, Pam personally renovated every room in her home. She loved the company of dogs and cared for several of the neighborhood cats. Friends and family may remember her dogs Micki, Frannie, Lulu, and Marley. In her most recent years, it was not unusual to see Pamela walking her dogs alongside her scooter through Tiskilwa. A celebration of Pam's life will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on September 23, 2023 at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc & Monuments, 701 E Thompson St Princeton, Illinois 61356.
