Peru - Rhonda Gene Martin, 54, our beautiful sunshine has passed into her eternal sunset on March 24, 2023. The kindness and warmth of her life will cast a lasting ray of love and light on our hearts forever. Rhonda's caring soul has returned to the God who so graciously gave her to this world. Rhonda was born August 30,1968 to Linda and Roland Harris. She resided in Tiskilwa during her early years until graduating high school in 1987. Upon graduating, she moved several times over the next few years while being a Navy wife. She returned to Tiskilwa in 2002, single, to raise her children. She later moved to Princeton, LaSalle, and ending up in Peru, IL. On August 23, 2006 she married David Martin. Their lives were filled with great adventures traveling and kayaking. They were able spend a great deal of time with their grandchildren. She especially loved their annual trip to Wisconsin with the entire family including their dog, Gracie. Rhonda's husband and children were a constant source of support and love in her life while Gracie provided the extra snuggles. She loved the springtime and especially enjoyed planting and taking care of all the plants, flowers, and landscaping. Not only at her house, but frequently helping others make their yards beautiful as well. She anxiously awaited the change of the seasons to bring life and color to her outdoor spaces. Rhonda has always had a strong work ethic and was employed over the years at the US Postal Service, Lifetouch, MTM Recognition, Walmart, and later at Dixon Correction Facility. Her time at all her vocations yielded many great and lasting friendships with her co-workers. Rhonda's battle with cancer began in 2014 until it metastasized in early 2021. She demonstrated incredible strength and kindness as her body fought this horrible disease. She was eternally blessed with a network of friends and family who rallied around her during this time. They were able to make a once in a lifetime trip to Rome a dream come true. She often reflected on those memories and how truly thankful she was for all the amazing people God put in her life. Rhonda is survived by her loving husband, David. Her three children, Amber (Joshua) Wilder of Rice Lake, WI., Brian Prunty of Peru, IL., and Rebecca (Gage) Parks of Morrison, IL; four grandchildren, Trinity, Meiah, Mason, & Logan; two sisters, Denise White of Tiskilwa, IL, and Jenna Glynn of Bureau IL.; one brother DJ (Elizabeth) Glynn of Magnolia, IL.; stepdad Denny Glynn; two stepsisters Deana Stedman and Kelly Jo Glynn. She is thankful to have many extended family members in the Harris, Martin, Glynn, Prunty, and Storm families including numerous in laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her cousin, Linda Battaglia will especially miss their lifetime of friendship. She is preceded in death by parents Linda and Roland Harris, sister Katrina Anderson. As well as many family members that were gone way too soon. A visitation for Rhonda will be held at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. and Monuments in Princeton, IL on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Funeral Services to follow at 12:00 p.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, officiated by Pastor Cameron Graper. Graveside Services to follow at Oakland Cemetery, Princeton, IL. Pallbearers: Gage Parks, Joshua Wilder, Michael Battaglia, Joseph Bonnell, Tony Harris, Bill Zermeno & Gerald Weber.
