Mr Richard L Anderson

Princeton - Richard L Anderson, 91, of Princeton, IL passed away in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. Richard, who was always known as Dick by his friends and family, was born on July 24, 1931 in Princeton, IL to the late Howard and Lucille (Ioder) Anderson. He was a graduate of Ohio High School, in Ohio, IL, Class of 1949. He enlisted in the United States Army and served from May 1953 and he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on February 21, 1955. He married the love of his life, Marie E Nothnagel in Ohio, IL on March 14, 1953. They were together for over 70 years and celebrated their 69th year of marriage this year. They started their family in Ohio IL, one son, Greg and two daughters, Deb and Diane, growing together as a family on the farm. Dick worked as a seed dealer for Dekalb for 28 years and was a member of the Board of Directors of the First State Bank of Van Orin for many years, most recently serving as Chairman of the Board. He was a member of the Mendota Elks, Mendota Golf Club and Princeton Moose Lodge. Farming, he had a love of the land and shared that love with his family. He was an avid golfer for many years and usually played shortly after daybreak. He enjoyed reading and you would often find him in his favorite chair reading his latest find. He was a family man and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, whether a holiday meal or a sporting event, he was there and loved to see their growth. He always enjoyed having family and friends around as well as his winters in Florida. He is survived by his wife and love of his life for 70 plus years, Marie Anderson of Princeton, IL; his three children, one son, Greg (Elizabeth) Anderson of Princeton, IL and two daughters Deb (Jim) Shipp of Princeton, IL and Diane FioRito of Carol Stream, IL.; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; one brother, Howard (Carolyn) Anderson of Princeton, IL and sisters, Sue (Joe) Etheridge of Glendale Heights, IL and Sally (Randy) Farrell of Ohio, IL; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bill Anderson and Bob Anderson and one son-in-law, Pete FioRito. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Ohio Fire Protection District. A visitation for Dick will be held on Thursday October 13, 2022 at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Services at 12:30 pm at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments on Thursday, October 13,2022, Officiated by Pastor Ron Eckberg.
