Wyanet - Richard "Dick" LeRoy Hines, 82, of Wyanet, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL surrounded by the people who loved him most-his devoted wife and daughters. Born on March 6, 1943, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Joliet, Illinois, to LeRoy G. and Doris (Rish) Hines. Dick lived a life filled with love, laughter, and purpose. He graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1962, and just a year earlier, he met the girl who would become his whole world-Martha J. "Marty" Cook who was his Sweetheart. They were married on August 22, 1964, at Richards Street Methodist Church in Joliet and spent the next six decades hand in hand, building a beautiful life together. Last summer, they celebrated 60 years of marriage-a love story full of loyalty, laughter, and deep companionship. Dick was the kind of man who could talk to anyone, a true comedian. His warmth, quick wit, and ability to connect made him a natural in sales. He owned Monitor Productions in Wyanet. Beyond business, it was his relationships that truly mattered to him, he made everyone feel seen and hear, and that was his gift. He was a man of deep faith and strong values. A dedicated member of the Wyanet United Methodist Church, a proud Mason, Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He was also an active supporter of the National Wild Turkey Federation and NRA, Dick lived with purpose and gave generously of his time and heart. He was never happier than when he was outside, turkey hunting in the Spring sitting quietly in the woods, or during deer season in the Fall. You could find him casting a line into the Jack's Fork River or enjoying a good competitive game of pool. He also loved to swap stories over a good meal or a glass of Scotch. Eminence, Missouri, and New Orleans, Louisiana, both held a special place in his heart. Their favorite destinations, where he and Marty returned time and time again to soak in the atmosphere. Above all, Dick loved his family. He was a dedicated husband, a proud father, grandpa and great grandpa and a loyal friend. He showed up with his whole hear, whether cheering someone on, offering a listening ear, or simply sharing a laugh. His legacy is one of love, adventure, and connection. He will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and lovingly remembered. Survived by his wife of over 60 years, Marty Hines of Wyanet, IL; Holly (Mark) Wright of Wyanet, IL and Noelle (Daniel) Russell of Princeton, IL; Grandpa Dick also is survived by his five grandchildren, Haley Whitlock, Ben (Branda) Wright, Emily Falk, Ethan (Kendra) Wright and Alexander Patterson; six great grandchildren, Parker Nink, Emmett Whitlock, Luciano Alfano, Ollie Wright, Kaysen Wright and Brigham Wright, one brother LeRoy "Punk" (Shirley) Hines and one sister Sharon Donaldson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and so many friends. Preceded in death by his parents LeRoy and Doris Hines, sister Gail Herro and brother Jim Zaletel and in-laws, Freeman and Daisy Cook. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Gigi's Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center and Shriners Hospital for Children. A visitation will be held on Friday June 27, 2025 at the Wyanet United Methodist Church in Wyanet, IL from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 pm. Funeral Services to follow at the United Methodist Church in Wyanet at 2:00 p.m. with graveside services to follow at Foresthill Cemetery in Wyanet, IL.
