Robert James Saletzki

Princeton - Robert James Saletzki, 83, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 1:54 a.m. at home with his loving wife and two sons by his side. Robert was born in Kewanee, IL to the late Frank and Margaret (Mitchell) Saletzki. He lived in Princeton almost his entire life. He was a graduate of Princeton High School, Class of 1956. He married Charlotte Bevington on September 6, 1959 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Princeton, IL. He made all of her dreams come true in their 61 years of marriage. He was employed at LCN Closers for 21 years as a Drafting Engineer and another 21 years in Purchasing, retiring May of 1998 with 42 years of service. He was gifted with unbelievable creative talent. He loved watercolor painting and woodworking. He enjoyed and appreciated many historical aspects of Princeton. His family and friends loved and enjoyed his amazing quick wit and sense of humor. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte, of 61 years and 6 months, two sons, Donald (Lisa) Saletzki and Daniel (Jamie) Saletzki, both of Princeton, IL; six grandchildren, Danielle (Brad) Gapinski, Paul Saletzki, Kayla (Bobby Green) Saletzki, Avery Saletzki, Carter Saletzki and Danica Saletzki; one great-granddaughter Bentleigh Green and great-grandchild baby Gapinski due in June; one brother, Richard D. Saletzki of Cottonwood, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret (Mitchell) Saletzki, his brother, Donald Paul Saletzki in 1961, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Rozilla Bevington. The family would like to thank, with deep gratitude, Princeton Ambulance Service and Perry Memorial Hospital. For their devotion to Robert's care, hospice nurse, Hannah, his hospice aide, Heather, his caregiver, Debbie, and family friend Carolyn. The loving support and kindness they gave to his wife, Charlotte, and sons, Donald and Daniel and their families will always be remembered. Memorials may be directed to the Princeton Ambulance Service, Perry Memorial Hospital, or the Bureau County Historical Society. A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Sommer Chapel at Oakland Cemetery in Princeton, IL. Following with graveside services at Oakland Cemetery, officiated by Tom Odell. Pallbearers will be Carter Saletzki, Brad Gapinski, Jim Miller, Paul Johnson, Kevin Vaughn, Mike Vaughn.
