Joann Johnson 1931 - 2015 PRINCETON — Ruby Joann Johnson, 84, of Princeton passed away at 4:27AM on Christmas, at Liberty Village. She was born May 19, 1931, in Kewanee, the daughter of Cecil and Eva Corwin. She had one sister, the late Ada Ohlson from Gainesville, Fla. She graduated from the Methodist nursing program as an RN and continued her compassion and care for others throughout her life. Joann married Bob Johnson Dec. 2, 1951, and was married for 48 years. Among those who will cherish her memory are her children, Bill (Jackie) Johnson of Princeton, Linda (Mike) Haile of Champaign and Karen (Jim) Czuprynski of Forsyth; six grandchildren, Matt (Becky) Johnson of Dunlap, Kim Johnson of Peoria, Katy (Jeff) Ritter of Indianapolis, Ind., Rob Czuprynski of St. Louis, Mo., Jennifer Haile of Champaign and Christopher Haile of Champaign; and three great-grandchildren, Louisa Johnson of Dunlap, Noah Ritter of Indianapolis, Ind., and Ruby Johnson of Dunlap. In addition, her extended family includes Patty Butkovich, the late Jean German, Janet Moore, John Ohlson and Chris Rippner. Joann will forever be remembered for her amazing devotion to her Lord and Savior, love and dedication to her family as a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family. Joann was an active member and leader in Home Extension with a special interest in the Thanksgiving foreign exchange program. Joann was a member of First Lutheran Church of Princeton and was a life-long choir member. Joann dedicated her time to serve others. Joann would like to thank all her special friends and her caregivers at Greenfield, Liberty Village, Perry Memorial Hospital, and Hospice. Through happiness and adversity Joann lived her life with her favorite Bible verse Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me." Funeral will be on Monday, December 28, 2015 at First Lutheran Church, 116 N Pleasant St, Princeton. The service will start at 11:00am, officiated by Pastor Norm Femrite, with visitation preceding at 10am at the church. Following the luncheon at the church, burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church of Princeton.
