Sarah Richards

Sarah E. Richards 1919-2012 Sarah E. Richards, age 92 of Princeton, passed away on Wednesday, May 09, 2012 at Liberty Village of Princeton. She was born on Jun 11, 1919 in Ohio, Illinois at the home of her maternal grandparents Peter and Ella V. Conrad. The daughter of Edward I. and Elizabeth (Conrad) DeBolt. Sarah was raised in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Von Steuben High School in Chicago, IL in 1937. She married Franklin W. Richards on June 1, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 27, 1966. They moved to Ohio, Illinois to farm the Conrad farm in March of 1948, until Franklin’s death in 1966. In 1967 she went back to school and got her nursing degree from Sauk Valley Community College, graduating in 1970 with a Registered Nursing Degree. She worked at KSB Hospital in Dixon, Illinois until she retired in 1984. She lived in Dixon from 1969 until 2007. She then resided in Princeton until she passed away. She was affiliated with the United Methodist Churches in both Ohio and Dixon, Illinois. Sarah was a volunteer at the Ronald Regan Home in Dixon and was a member of the Dixon Travel Club. She travelled in the United States and Europe. Sarah is survived by three children; Betty M. (Gail) Peterson of Princeton, Frances H. "Fran" (James) Carey of Highland, Illinois and Frank James "Jim" (Peggy) Richards of Amboy, Illinois. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Kim Frank of Washington, IL, Dennis (Rhonda) Peterson of Overland Park, Kansas, Heather (Fortune') Basse' of Bothell, Washington, Michael (Patricia) Carey of Topeka, Indiana. Surviving as well are ten great-grandchildren; Megan and Daniel Frank, Tyler and Jacob Peterson, Madeline Rose and Macklann Basse', Eden, James Izaak, Levi and Abigail Carey. Also surviving is one niece and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother Edward Conrad DeBolt and his wife Ruth. Memorials may be directed to Greenfield Retirement Home, Country Comfort Retirement Home and Vitas Hospice. Private family services will take place. Sarah will be buried at Union Cemetery in Ohio, Illinois.
