Susan Ann Knotts

Putnam – Susan Ann Knotts, 57, passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 unexpectedly. Susan, lovingly referred to by many nick names, but the one that stuck was Suzie-Q. She was born on May 5, 1964 to the late Thomas and Ruby Jean (Cappleman) Knotts in Aurora, IL. She was a graduate of Somonauk High School, in Somonauk, IL, Class of 1983. She met her lifelong partner, Martin Gibbs at “Marty’s Party House” which was a complete adult tree house including shag carpet, 8 tracks and album covers. They had two children, which were the loves of their lives and main entertainment, Christina and Marty. They were happily together over 40 years until his Martin’s untimely passing in 2017. . She was a hardworking woman who never gave up, always setting a good example for her family. She spent most of her life, 20 plus years, working for Walmart as an Asset Protection Officer DC6092. To say she loved her job would be greatly understated. She got to know the people she worked with, including the delivery people and they became part of her extended family. Hence where she got the name Suzie-Q. Suzie-Q loved ponds, lakes and oceans for all kinds of activities, to include swimming, boating and taking in rays of sun or just hanging out. She really enjoyed being outdoors and had an amazing garden, both flowers and vegetables. She loved her dog Bingo and he will be missing his momma dearly. She was an excellent cook and baker, if you left her home hungry, it was your own fault. She enjoyed hanging out with her friends too. People were naturally drawn to her and to know her, was to love her. She accomplished so much in her life, including being a 10+ year breast cancer survivor. She is survived by her two children, Christina Gibbs of Putnam, IL and Marty Gibbs of Putnam, IL; one sister, Carol (Mike) Overly of Somonauk, IL; one brother Tom (Dena) Knotts of Ocala, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ruby Jean Knotts, the love of her life, Martin Gibbs (11/2017), one sister in law, Lisa Gibbs Wilkins, and two nephews, Jordan Knotts and Christopher Shaffer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cops for Cancer in her name. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments. Services for Susan to follow, Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments at 12:00 p.m. Cremation rites accorded.
