Susan E Lucas

Princeton - Susan E. (Britton) Lucas, 65, of Princeton, IL passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Aperion Care surrounded by her loving family. Susan was born in Leavenworth, Kansas on June 11, 1956 to Janice Irene (Brune) and James A. Britton Jr. She was raised by her father James and his loving wife Connie (Britton) Anderson, who Susan referred to as mom from the age of 8. She graduated from Princeton High School Class of 1974. She married Norman Lucas on August 24, 1974 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton, IL. They were married for 42 years before Norman's passing from a motorcycle accidental death on June 27, 2016. Susan worked as a cook most of her life. Working for Prairie View Nursing Home, Ace Hardware Distribution Center, Country Comfort Retirement Home and the Perry Memorial, where she retired from in 2015 to spend more time with her husband Norman. She was a lifetime member of the Perry Memorial Auxiliary, she also volunteered with Mobile Meals and the Hospital Gift Shop. She enjoyed reading and crocheting and baking Christmas goodies for family and friends. She loved to ride motorcycles and spending time with her fur-baby, Norma Jean. She was a very caring and generous person. She supported many different causes, always wanting to help those in need. She was soft hearted, caring and loved people and animals. She was treasured by so many and will be greatly missed. Susan is survived by her mom, Connie (Wayne) Anderson of Princeton; her Aunt Bonnie (Howard) Doty; three sisters-in-law, Diane Lucas, Nicki Lucas and Tacy Lucas; one brother-in-law, Joe (Brenda) Lucas; four nephews, Lance Britton, Derek Britton, Jason Britton and Heath Britton; as well as special "Kids" Marla Anderson, Tracy Kim and Aaron Doty. She is preceded in death by her husband Norman Lucas (06/27/2016), her mother, Janice Irene Kline, her father, James A Britton, Jr., two brothers, James Britton and Steve Britton, one nephew, Toby Britton, her grandmother, Margaret Anderson and other family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, Susan wished for memorials be directed to Mobile Meals or Buddy Bags. The family will have a graveside services on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Princeton, IL officiated by Monsignor James Kruse of St. Louis Catholic Church.
