Walter Ray King

Walter Ray King 1925-2014 Funeral service for Walter Ray King, age 88 of Princeton, will be Friday, Jan 10, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the First Congregational Church of La Moille. Rev. Kris Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Elm Lawn Memorial Park on Jan 10, 2014. Military Rites will be performed. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan 09, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Norberg Memorial Home. Mr. King passed away on Saturday, Jan 04, 2014 at Perry Memorial Hospital. He was born on Jan 23, 1925 in Princeton, Illinois to Clifford and Lillian (May) King. Walter attended a one room school house, Durham Grade School. He was life long farmer on his family's farm and served in the US Army at the end of WWII and was stationed in Korea just before the Korean Conflict. He married Sally Blackwell on August 3, 1952 at the First Congregational Church in La Moille. They were married by her grandfather Rev. Wesley L. Blackwell. Walter was a member of the Bureau Valley Good Sam Club, served on the La Moille School Board, and was a member of First Congregational Church of La Moille. He was also a member of the American Legion/VFW post 125 in Princeton and served on the Board of Directors for the Van Orin Elevator. Walter is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sally King of rural Princeton. Also surviving are two children Gerald (Jeannie) King of rural Princeton and Barbara (Allen) Klein of rural La Moille. Surviving as well are seven grandchildren: Thomas (Tina) Klein, Matthew Klein, Jeralyn (Timothy) Glass, Jason (Melanie) Klein, Adam Klein, Katrina (Mitch) McCoy, and Joanna Klein all of rural Princeton and La Moille. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren: Addilyn, Gabriel, and Michael Glass, McKenna and Brayden Klein, Myla and Makaylee McCoy. Also surviving is one brother Floyd W. King of Princeton and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Kay Yvonne King in 1972, one brother Kenneth King and one nephew Dennis King. Memorials may be directed to La Moille Ambulance or First Congregational Church of La Moille.
