Princeton – James E. Sarrels 94 of Princeton passed away at Aperion Care on Wednesday, September 30, 2020. Jim was born in El Paso, TX on December 27, 1925 to the late Thomas Couch and Quinnie Wilson. He was later adopted by Quinnie's second husband Walton H. Sarrels. He attended Peacock Military Academy in San Antonio, Tx. He joined the United States Navy and served from 1943-1946. He met his wife, Lorraine Edmunds in Memphis, TN, as he had moved there to visit with his mother. They married on August 30, 1952. He worked for International Harvester Company and was a member of Masonic Lodge 862. He enjoyed reading and traveling. One of his favorite destinations was Mexico. He enjoyed a good Tom Clancy novel, liked to watch war movies and documentaries as well as old westerns. He enjoyed being outside and going for bike rides. Jim is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lorraine; two sons Jim (Pam) Sarrels of Woodridge, IL and Bob (Colleen) Sarrels of Bradenton, FL; two granddaughters, Megan (Curtis) Drommerhausen of Duluth, MN and Kelly (Pat) Owens of Chicago, IL; three great grandchildren, Cole, James and Maureen. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Hugh Sarrels. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for charitable distribution.
