Princeton - James Randall "Randy" Skaggs, 69, of Princeton, IL, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at OSF St. Francis in Peoria, IL, surrounded by his loving family. Randy, lovingly called by his middle name, just like his father, was born on April 18, 1952 in Princeton, IL. to the late James "Bud" and Beulah (Burba) Skaggs. He was a graduate of Princeton High School, Class of 1971. He married his high school sweetheart of 6 years, Brenda Eaton. They married on August 8, 1975 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Princeton, IL. Where they resided and raised their two children in the hometown they loved. He was a member of the IBEW 51 Union, he was a long standing member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Princeton, after marriage, he attended the Evangelical Covenant Church with Brenda and the kids. He worked at CornBelt Energy in the warehouse for 43 years before retirement in 2018. Randy was a huge NASCAR fan and loved anything to do with it. He even went to multiple races and introduced his son and grandsons to the sport. His favorite driver Kyle Bush. He enjoyed taking the grandkids fishing and spending time with them. He was super proud of his yard and landscaping and you could find him many days mowing the lawn, weed eating, edging and picking up the yard. He was quite the grill master, according to his daughter, the grandkids contributed that he made "the very best bratwurst in the world". He loved spending time with all of his grandchildren. They would go on adventures such as movies, Dollar G or just playing in the yard. His loved for Brenda though, even after 52 plus years together, he still had date night with Brenda, and after his retirement, they did everything together, except for NASCAR that was for the boys, (Brenda was invited, but that was men time). He was kind, considerate, generous and loving and was all about his family. He will be missed by so very many. He is survived by his bride of 46 plus years, Brenda Skaggs of Princeton, IL; two children, Jeremy (Breanna Thomas) Skaggs of Princeton, IL and Sarah (BJ Storm) Skaggs of Tiskilwa, IL; seven grandchildren, Elijah, Jase, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Caleb, Marissa and Kory; two sisters, Sandra McCauley and Belinda Klein; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Beulah Skaggs. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Evangelical Covenant Church in Princeton, IL. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments. Services to follow at Norbergs, December 1, 2021 at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Derek C. Boggs of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Princeton.
