Lorenz Fuerst Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Putnam- Lorenz “Larry” Fuerst Jr., 87, of Putnam, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Liberty Village of Princeton. Larry was born on October 8, 1929 in Chicago, IL to Lorenz Sr. and Marguerite (Anglim) Fuerst. He was a 1947 graduate of Mt. Caramel High School. He worked for the city of Chicago as a plumber. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Wisconsin from 1951-1953 as a Gunners Mate 3rd Class. He also served in the Korean War. Larry met Carol Ankotovitch in June of 1989 and they married in June of 1992. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus from St. Louis Catholic Church, Father Farrell Council. He was a member of Illinois Valley Cursillo. He made his first Cursillo #696 on June 6, 2002. Larry served as an Auxiliary for Cursillo #729, and also gave his Rollo for Cursillo #857. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, and racing stock cars. Larry was survived by his wife; four sons, Greg (Carol), Anthony (Marge), Larry (Lynn), David (Lynn); one daughter, Lisa (Chris) McNeil; two stepsons, J. Kevin (Laurel) Riffey, Jeffrey (Sabrina Haynes) Riffey; 11 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 1 step great granddaughter; and one soon to be great grandson. He was preceded in death by both parents; his sisters, Peggy and Pat; and one daughter in infancy, Lori. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 19th from 9:00 a.m until 11:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m with Father Jeffrey Stirniman and Deacon John Murphy officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
