Robert Charles Halberg Sr. 1922-2007 Funeral service for Robert Charles Halberg Sr., age 85 of Princeton, will be Wednesday, Oct 03, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the St. Matthews Lutheran Church. Rev. Jeffery Schlesinger will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct 02, 2007 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Norberg Memorial Home. Mr. Halberg passed away on Saturday, Sep 29, 2007 at Perry Memorial Hospital. He was born on Jul 22, 1922 in Princeton, Illinois to Reuben and Amanda (Holtz) Halberg. Bob worked for several years at Leafy Lane dairy and retired from Champion Pneumatic on his 65th birthday. He served in the US Army during WWII in China, Burma, and India. He was a member of the Princeton American Legion and VFW and the Princeton Bowling Hall of Fame. He married Helen Kruchinski November 25, 1953 in Depue, Il. She survives. Surviving are one son, Robert Halbeg Jr. of Princeton, four sisters; Jane Dow of Princeton, Bernadine Biama of Ottawa, Norma Raabe of Manlius, and Betty Hansen of Wyanet, and four brothers; Max Halberg of Princeton, Jack (Joann) Halberg of Spring Valley, Richard (Sandra) Halberg of Princeton, and Gary (Bonnie) Halberg of Peoria and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and 3 brothers. Memorials may be directed to the Princeton Friends of Strays.
