Princeton - Roy August Pierson, 81, of Princeton, IL, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at OSF St. Clare in Princeton, IL surrounded by his loving family. Roy known as "Augie Doggie" most of his life was born on February 7, 1940 to the late August and Adeila (Giesenhagen) Pierson in Princeton, IL. He was a member of the Princeton High School, Class, 1958. He married the love of his life, Marjorie Hanna on June 21, 1957 at the First United Methodist Church in Princeton, IL. Augie worked all of his life as a truck driver. He worked for Tobler, CF and Purdy Brothers as well as Princeton Redi Mix, Denny Denton and LB Hanna Trucking. He spent many years and held many positions as a volunteer fire fighter for the Princeton Fire Department. He also spent much time assisting at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. with Bodie whenever needed. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Ladd and Princeton,Il. During his time involved in the Moose lodge he held numerous positions, rising to the rank of governor. He enjoyed his involvement with Mooseheart. He was also a member of the Elks lodge located in Princeton,il. He held numerous potions there and rose to the exalted ruler. He also served at the state level for several years. During his time at the Elks he took over the responsibility of The Cripple Children's Clinic with his late wife Marjorie Pierson. Augie enjoyed playing cards and going out to eat. He loved spending time with family and friends and doing community service. Anything to help anyone, Augie was just a phone call away. His best memories were spent with his loving family and serving the Princeton area. He is survived by his two sons, Bryan (Deb) Pierson of Alton, IL and Bradley (Tina Hart) Pierson of Peoria, IL; one daughter, Beth (Harold) Everson of Wyanet, IL; 11 grandchildren 3 great grandchildren and one on the way, Tim Kragt, Neal Pierson, one great grandchild, Jade Kragt (Bryans Family); Preston Pierson (Robin Fields), Brady (Kelsie) Pierson, Brooke Pierson, and one great grandchild on the way (Bradleys Family); Brandon Kerner, Aaron Kerner, Ethan Everson, Christy Shevlin (Kyle), Hudson Shevlin, Madison Shevlin, great grandchildren, Jake Everson and Ashley Everson (Beths Family); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. During the later stages of life Augie appreciated the companionship of Marilyn Egli. Augie was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Pierson who passed on December 1, 2011, his parents, August and Adeila Pierson, and two brothers, Francis and Harold Pierson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Services for Augie will follow on November 2, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments officiated by Pastor Ryan Sutton.
