Malden - Sheryl Ann (Sommer) Kirk, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Sheryl lovingly known as Sherry, was born on January 17, 1961 in Princeton, IL to the late Irvin and Dorothy (Dalton) Sommer. She was welcomed into the world shortly after her ride or die, twin sister Shelly. Eleven years later Sherry welcomed her baby sister Mary into the world. Sherry graduated from Malden High School Class of 1979. She welcomed her first daughter Patricia in December of 1981 and second daughter, Jessica, in January of 1985. She married her true love on December 3, 1993. Sherry was the definition of a family women. There isn't anything she wouldn't do for her children and grandchildren. Anyone who knew her could see the love for her grandbabies. She also enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, cooking and inherited the love of bird watching from her mom. Her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren's sporting events. No matter what it was from go card racing to basketball, she was there. They were the joy of her life and if sat next to her for a quick moment you would have known that with in the first few moments of conversation. Sherry is survived by her husband James Kirk, Jr. of Malden, IL; Parents, Dorothy and Karl Sabotta; daughters, Patricia (Chris) Lanham, Jessica (Jason) Lasson; sisters, Shelly (Jack) Davis, Mary (Brian) Joiner, Kelly (Harvey Curley; brothers, David (Chris)Sabotta, Steven (Barb) Sabotta; sisters-in-law Michelle Seamen, Kay Kirk; grandchildren Kaden Monroe, Kolten Monroe, Karter Monroe, Krishlyn Lanham, Brynley Colby, Gavin Lanham, Elijah Lasson, Jace Stuckey, and many adopted grandkids that stole her heart; great granddaughter, Kassidy Mesic; nieces and nephews, Carli (Nick) Hansen, Phinnley, Merrick, Hazel, Autumn Joiner, Emma Joiner, Adam Wysocki, Ken (Lindsay) Davis, Jaxon and Cecelia, Brian Davis, Luke Davis, Spencer Davis and many more loved nieces and nephews and cousins. Preceding her in death is her father, Irvin Sommer, Grandparents, Howard and Hazel Dalton, Aunt and Uncle Pat and Helen Fenwick, Uncle Norman Dalton brother in law, Robert Kirk, father and mother in law James and Mary Kirk Sr., and her best friend, Lynn Russelburg. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Services to follow visitation at 6:00 p.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments, officiated by Pastor Darren Jones.
