Adrienne Courington

Princeton - Adrienne L. "Andi" Courington, 90, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in Princeton, Illinois. Andi was born on May 24, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, to John and Irene Seidel. She grew up in the Chicago area and graduated from Carl Schurz High School. Andi married James Courington, with whom she shared many wonderful years. His passing in 2011, left a space in her heart. Throughout her working years, Andi was employed as a customer service representative for Warner-Lambert and Pfizer. While she took pride in her career, some of her greatest happiness was found in the friendships she made and the creativity she shared through her lifelong love of needlework, cross-stitching, and fiber arts. Andi's hands were rarely still, and her love of creating brought her into many wonderful circles of friends. She was a member of the Mississippi River Sampler Guild in Dubuque, Iowa; the Prayer Shawl Group at First Lutheran Church in Princeton; Creative Crafters in Princeton; Needle Nuts in LaSalle; and Wednesday Fiber Artists in Peoria. Cross-stitching was much more than a hobby for Andi-it was an adventure and a way to connect with people she treasured. She attended many sleep-away cross-stitch retreats, where she was always fun to have around and became especially well known for her delicious sparkling toffee cookies. Her love of stitching even took her across the world on two cross-stitch cruises, one to the Caribbean and another to the British Isles. Wherever Andi went, laughter, friendship, creativity, and usually something sweet were never far behind. Andi lived the majority of her life in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, particularly Des Plaines and Elk Grove Village, before moving to Princeton on June 7, 2024. Though her time in Princeton was relatively short, she quickly became part of the community, crafting groups, and the friendships she made. Above all, Andi will be remembered as a loving, caring, and exceptionally generous woman. She had a wonderful ability to make people feel welcomed and loved. She was loved by many, and she loved them all right back. Her warmth, humor, generosity, and bright spirit touched countless lives, and the light she brought into the world will continue to shine through the family and friends who were fortunate enough to know her. Andi is survived by her daughters, Debi (Mrowiec) Shyne and Kevin of Princeton, Illinois; Cynthia (Mrowiec) Dunham of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Regina (Mrowiec) Sylvester of Huntley, IL and Victoria Mrowiec of Parker, Colorado; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Regina Seidel; her husband, James Courington; her brothers, John Seidel Jr. and Donald Seidel; her daughter, Laura (Mrowiec) Meisner; her sons, Joseph Mrowiec and Edward Mrowiec Jr.; son in law, Gary Dunham, and her grandson, Robert Ross. Andi leaves behind more than the beautiful pieces she stitched with her hands. She leaves a lifetime woven together with love, family, friendship, laughter, and generosity. Like the intricate needlework she so dearly loved, each person she touched became a thread in the beautiful story of her life. Her bright light will always be remembered, and the love she gave so freely will never be forgotten. A celebration of Life will be held at a later date and time.
