Donald Arthur Nordstrom

Princeton - Donald Arthur Nordstrom, 88, of Princeton, IL, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024, at OSF St. Clare in Princeton, IL. Born on March 3, 1936, in Princeton, IL, to the late Forrest and Nessie Nordstrom. He graduated in 1957. On June 26, 1955, he married Judith Brown at St. Matthews Lutheran Church. They would start their family and live in Princeton, sharing over 68 years of marriage. He proudly served in the US Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957, then in the Marine Corps Reserves from 1957 to 1962, and he was honorably discharged and he received the Medal of Good Conduct. Donald worked initially for LCN in the Tool Room from 1957 to 1969. Subsequently, he founded his own businesses, Jobco of Princeton, IL, and Gulf States Door Controls of Rockwall, TX. He never really retired, always working on something or helping someone. He was an active member of the CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association), Ducks Unlimited and the NRA. Donald enjoyed fishing, hunting, and loved the outdoors. He spent many hours volunteering in various capacities where and when needed. He really enjoyed the freedom of riding snowmobiles and motorcycles. Something that gave him much joy as well as lasting friendships, and traditions passed down to younger generations. He also loved a good game of Farkel! In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. Survived by his wife Judith Nordstrom of Princeton, IL.; four brothers, (Don being the oldest) Kenneth (Nancy) Nordstrom, John (Phyllis) Nordstrom, Billie Nordstrom and Winn (Deb) Nordstrom; one sister, Kathy (Jim) Pennington; four children, Mark Nordstrom of Johnstown, CO., Teresa (Bill) Thompson of St. Louis, MO., Timothy (Barbara) Nordstrom of Princeton, IL., and David (Sandie) Nordstrom of Princeton, IL.; one son-in-law, Brad Embree of Princeton, IL.,; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. Preceded in death by his parents Forest and Nessie Nordstrom, one daughter Linnea Nordstrom-Embree and his daughter-in-law Julie Nordstrom. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments Services to follow at 1:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Laura Root Tanner at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments.
