Doris Kay Duffield

Princeton - Doris Kay Duffield, age 87, passed away on May 1, 2024, at OSF St. Clare in Princeton, IL. Doris was born on October 7, 1936, in Princeton to the late Ivan and Virginia (Dean) Schindel. Doris was a proud graduate of Thomson High School, Class of 1955. On February 16, 1958, she married the love of her life, Harold Duffield, in the Kasbeer Community Church. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with love, dedication, and family. As a devoted farmer's wife, Doris poured her heart and soul into supporting her husband and raising their children. Her tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to her family were a testament to her strength and selflessness. Doris was an active member of the Dover Bible Church, where she found joy in teaching Sunday school and participating in various church activities. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and she cherished her church community. In her free time, Doris found solace in gardening, cooking delicious meals, and engaging in friendly card games and BINGO sessions and she loved to dance! She had a special fondness for spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments. She will be remembered for her loving nature, her vibrant spirit, and her contagious laughter. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will be forever treasured by her family and friends. Doris is survived by her four children, three daughters, Pamela (Daniel) Atilano, Susan (Tim) Stamberger and Linda (Chris) Fleming, and one son, Michael (Renee) Duffield; 11 grandchildren, Erin (Steve) Brodko, Amber (Jason) March, Matthew (Annalise) Atilano, Andrew Duffield, Lorraine (Robert) Foelske, Meredith (Benjamin) Alexander, Brady (Emily) Fleming, Skylynn Fleming, Alan Stamberger, Steven Atilano, Thomas Stamberger; 11 great-grandchildren, Evalynn, Burke and Wade Brodko, Carson, Miles, Logan and Levi March, Bennett and Ruby Atilano, Charles Alexander, Fulton Fleming; one brother-in-law, Wilbur "Skee" Duffield. Preceded by her parents, Ivan and Virginia Schindel, her husband of 29 years Harold Duffield (9/27/1987), sister, Janet Beers, infant twin sister, Donna Mae Schindel, as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wayne Beers, Jim and Irene Perkins, Bill and Verna Lange, Elmer "Ike" and Mary Pierson and Joan Duffield. Special thanks to the staff at Greenfield Retirement Home and JPO Retirement Homes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Dover Bible Church in Dover, IL. Visitation for Doris will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Services to follow at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. at 12:00 p.m. officiated by Elder Chuck Warren, grave side services to follow at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Princeton, with words of comfort offered by Elder Warren.
