Elizabeth Rider Anderson

Princeton - Elizabeth Rider Anderson, 70, of Princeton passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. Elizabeth was born in Urbana, IL on August 3, 1953 to the late Reverend Frank J. Rider and Florence M. McFeeters Rider. She graduated from Eureka College in 1975, and earned a Master's Degree in English from Bradley University in 1985. She married Gregory R. Anderson on June 26, 1977, at Leet Memorial United Methodist Church in Bradford, IL. She was an educator and loved teaching. She started her career at Leland High School upon graduation from Eureka, and taught there from 1975 to 1980. She then taught at LaSalle Peru Township High School from 1980 to 1985, before transferring to Princeton High School in 1985 until her retirement in 2012. Elizabeth was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Princeton and enjoyed doing volunteer work for her church and other community organizations. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, tending to her yard and flowers, golf, cooking and baking special treats for her family and friends. Surviving, her husband of 46 years, Greg Anderson; son Eric (Breanna) Anderson of Princeton, IL; grandsons Calvin and Dawson Anderson; sisters Victoria (Pat) Neve of Oakland CA and Phyllis Adelman of Champaign, IL; mother-in-law Marie Anderson of Princeton, IL; sisters-in-law Debra (Jim) Shipp of Princeton, IL and Diane FioRito of Carol Stream, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews. Preceded by her parents Frank and Florence Rider, father-in-law Richard L Anderson, brother-in-law Gary Adelman and Peter FioRito. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church of Princeton, IL. A visitation for Elizabeth will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Princeton. Services will follow the visitation at 12:00 p.m. at the church, officiated by Pastor Ryan Sutton. Music will be by the Kiser Family Trio (Rachel Kiser Rucker, Sarah Kiser Scruggs and Marty Kiser) and the organist will be Charles Gebeck. Cremation Rites Accorded.
