Ella Iola Carlson 1914-2007 Funeral service for Ella Iola Carlson, age 92 of Princeton, will be Friday, Jul 06, 2007 at 9:30 AM at the St. Louis Catholic Church. Father Jeffery Stirniman will officiate. Burial will follow in the Elm Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Jul 05, 2007 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Norberg Memorial Home. Rosary will be said at 7:30 PM. Iola passed away on Tuesday, Jul 03, 2007 at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Lacon, IL. She was born on Sep 10, 1914 in Newton Township, Illinois one of eight children born to Thomas and Ella (Brightman) Kennedy. She married Edward Carlson on December 9, 1932 in the parsonage of St. Mary's Church, Rockford, IL. He preceded her in death on January 3, 1998. Iola attended many schools as a child and received her GED at the age of 65; was a homemaker all her life; was active in and held offices in PTO, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, VFW auxiliary, and she was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, where she served the ladies of CCW and was a Eucharistic minister. Survivors include four children: Joanne Stocking, Robert(Leota0 Carlson of Princeton, Susan(Guy)Cunningham of Sparland, Il., Peggy(James)Sandberg of Princeton, and daughter in law Carol Carlson of The Woodlands, TX., grandsons Gregory(Penny)Stocking, Dennis(Diane)Stocking, Jeffery (Robyn Phillips)Stocking, Thomas(Amy)Stocking, David(Melissa)Carlson, Alan(Jennifer)Carlson, Colt Sandberg, Joshua(Katie)Schultz; eight granddaughters, Sally(Rob)West, Beth(James)Dawson, Kelly(Fred)Frazier, Cari(David)Berry, Elise(Michael)Bartman, and Sara(Shane)Kloepping. Fourteen great grandsons, nine great granddaughters, two step great grandsons, one great great grandson and one great great granddaughter, brother in law Ernest Green, Sigourney, IA. Arthur (Dorothy) Carlson, Rockford, IL, sisters in law Hazel Remery, Dixon, IL. and Shirley Goldie, Atascadara, CA. numerous nieces and nephews. Iola was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Donald Carlson, son in law gene Stocking, three brothers Leonard Kennedy, Arthur Kennedy, and Raymond Kennedy, four sisters Dorothy Data Dew, Gladys Sullivan, Evelyn Hobson Dolan, and Rosemary Green and two great grandsons. Memorials can be made to St. Louis Catholic Church, St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Lacon, or Methodist Hospital Hospice in Peoria.
