Esther R. Harrod March 30, 1923 - June 8, 2026 Princeton - Esther R. Harrod passed away peacefully on Monday, June 8, 2026, at her home at the remarkable age of 103. Born on March 30, 1923, in Tiskilwa, Illinois, Esther was the daughter of the late Emil and Jennie (Christophel) Lindner. She graduated from Tiskilwa High School and married the love of her life, George Harrod, on May 6, 1941. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work. George preceded her in death on June 28, 1979. Following his passing, Esther's strength and determination carried her family forward with grace and resilience. A dedicated nurse, homemaker, devoted mother, and grandmother, Esther's life was defined by her profound warmth, generosity, and nurturing spirit. Her tireless dedication and unwavering love shaped generations and left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Esther found great joy in tending her beautiful flower gardens. In her younger years, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting, creating treasured gifts for family and friends. Throughout her life, she remained devoted to her faith, finding comfort in reading her Bible and attending church services. Above all, Esther cherished her family. Her home was always open, her table was always full, and no one ever left hungry. She had a special gift for making everyone feel welcomed, loved, and valued. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Harrod of Princeton, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Lance (Sue) Harrod, Keith Harrod, Rodney Harrod, Vickie Harrod, Sherri Whitmer, Jodie (Scott) Corwin, Julie Swanson, Corey (Kim) Helle, and Laurie (Tim) Read; nineteen great-grandchildren; thirty great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Jennie Lindner; her beloved husband, George Harrod; her daughter, Karen Helle; son, Roger Harrod; four sisters Kathryn Stoner, Mildred Stoner, Jennie Ruth Eckberg and Dorothy Jontz; one brother Emile Lindner; and one granddaughter Cindy Harrod. Esther's legacy of love, faith, kindness, and family devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments. Services on Friday, June 12, 2026 at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments at 1:00 p.m. with pastor Laura Root officiating. Graveside services to follow at Mt. Bloom Cemetery in Tiskilwa, IL with Pastor Laura offering words of comfort. Pallbearers: Lance Harrod, Keith Harrod, Cory Warner, Adam Linder, Shane Helle, Gabe Meyer.
