James Cass

Tiskilwa - James D. Cass, 86, of Tiskilwa, IL passed away on Monday, December 11th at 2:09 a.m. at the home of his granddaughter Arica. Jim was born on August 14, 1937 to Frank B and Freda A (Stephens) Cass at their home at the Spoon River residence in Bradford, Illinois. Attending Emerson Grade School, Jim graduated from Bradford High School. Jim joined the US Army and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was in telecommunications. Soon after his honorable discharge from the United States Army, he married Margaret Hopper. They had one child, Roxane. Jim spent many years farming and managing livestock with area farmers. He spoke fondly of his years with them and formed countless lifelong friendships. Many were like family. Especially Jensen Farms out of Tiskilwa il. He loved to laugh. Many people could tell stories of his antics and fun they had. Jim was very proud of his beloved granddaughters and family, speaking of them often. He loved family, westerns, fishing and in his later years, mowing. He enjoyed being outside, you could always find him in his swing on the front porch. He was also a member of the Tiskilwa Community Church. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers John, Donald and Arthur (Skip) Cass; and two sisters Beverly Hufnagel Walker and Katheryn Garmes. He was also preceded in death by his wife Margaret and daughter Roxane as well as his special friend Lillian Stakely. Survived by his sister Margaret (Mike) Talbot of Kimberling City, Missouri; granddaughters Arica and Arin Miller of Galesburg, Illinois; grandson Joseph Miller of Galesburg, Illinois and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who adored him. A visitation will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments Services to follow on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Norberg Memorial Home Princeton, Illinois.
