JoAnn Rita Legner

Princeton - JoAnn R. Legner, 82, of Princeton, IL, passed away peacefully at her eldest son's home in Princeton on Thursday, March 18, 2021. JoAnn was born on July 29, 1938 in Seatonville, IL to her parents, Peter and Jennie (Malakauskis) Yucus. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Legner, her infant daughter Denise, as well as her brother Edward Yucus and Paul Yucus. She is survived by her brother Richard (Joy) Yucus of Seatonville, IL; two sons, Daniel G. (Susan) Legner of Princeton, IL and James J. (Tracy) Legner of Geneva, IL; five grandchildren, Brianna, Ian and Isaaac Legner of Princeton, IL and Giana and William Legner of Geneva, IL; as well as man sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. JoAnn attended Hall High School, Class of 1956. She worked at First State Bank in Princeton, IL after graduation. She married Joseph W. Legner on January 28, 1961 and they enjoyed 43 years together. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who lived her life for her family. She and her husband Joe were active members of St. Gertrude Church in Seatonville, IL and then St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton, IL. She and her husband were involved in the Bureau County 4-H for many years. JoAnn enjoyed gardening, baking pies and working with her husband on their family farm. She will always be remembered for her hard work ethic, faith and love of family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Greenfield Retirement Home in Princeton, or St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton, IL. A visitation for JoAnn will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments in Princeton, IL from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Rosary at 4:30 with Father Tim Hepner. Services for JoAnn will be on Monday, March 22, 2021 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton, IL officiated by Father Tim Hepner. There will also be a visitation at St. Louis Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to the 10:00 a.m. service. Graveside services to follow at Valley Memorial Park in Spring Valley, IL.
