Joseph Leroy Cartwright

Princeton - Joseph Leroy Cartwright, lovingly known as Joe, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 07, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on November 11, 1963, in Morrison, Illinois, he was the beloved son of Lyle and Carol (Beyer) Cartwright. Joe grew up in a close-knit family and graduated from Chadwick High School in 1981. Joe, known for his sense of humor and hard work, forged a successful career, starting with becoming an over-the-road truck driver. For a decade, he proudly owned and operated his own rig, traveling across the country and creating countless memories along the way. He happily retired his career with Redimix. On October 27, 2018, Joe married the love of his life, Karin Tunis, in Princeton, Illinois. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. Joe had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, boating, and anything to do on the water. He loved taking leisurely tractor rides through the countryside. A talented cook, he was happiest when preparing meals for family and friends, often paired with a well-earned "cold one." Joe had a warm and generous spirit, always ready with a smile and a helping hand. Joe is survived by his mother, Carol (Beyer) Cartwright of Chadwick, IL; loving wife of six years Karin Cartwright of Princeton, IL; children, Brandon (Amelia) Cartwright of Walnut, IL, Chase (Sarah) Cartwright of Wauwatosa, WI; sister Angeline (Kevin) Krol of East Moline, IL; stepchildren Kaylyn (Mike) Mahoney of Rowlett, TX, Ben Charry and Leon Parsons IV of Saco, ME and Genevieve Charry of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Axel Cartwright, Lenora Mahoney and Conner Mahoney; niece Haley (Nicholas) Schindler of East Moline, IL and cousin Donna Cartwright of Midland, MI. Preceded in death by his father Lyle Cartwright, brother Clifton James Cartwright and sister Cathy Ann Cartwright. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hope Lodge in Iowa City, IA. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments in Princeton, IL. Services to be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Princeton, IL officiated by Pastor Derek Boggs, Organist Charlie Gebeck.
