Larry R. Patterson

Larry Patterson MESQUITE, Nev. — Larry R. Patterson of Mesquite, Nev., formerly of Princeton, passed away Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nev. He was born Sept. 9, 1941, in Aurora to Robert and Mildred (Richardson) Patterson. He married Janet L. Etter in 1961 in Carlyle. She preceded him in death in 1985. He married Yvonne (Egan) Peterson in 1987 in DePue. She preceded him in death in 2012. After graduating from Carlyle High School in 1959, Larry began a career in banking in Aurora. In 1972, he received a bachelor's degree from Aurora University. He was hired by National Care and opened Colonial Hall Nursing Home in Princeton, where he was administrator for 15 years. He later worked as a Country Companies Insurance agent for approximately 10 years. During his time in Princeton, Larry served as a volunteer firefighter for the Princeton Fire Department, attaining the rank of lieutenant, and was later named an honorary Princeton firefighter. In 1997, he relocated to St. George, Utah, and later made his home in Mesquite, Nev., where he lived for the past 15 years. Larry worked for several casinos and had fun working as a golf marshal at Wolf Creek Golf Club. Throughout this life, Larry was involved in many service organizations, including Rotary Club, Jaycees, and Elks and Moose lodges. Larry was an avid Bears and Blackhawks fan, but was most passionate about the Chicago Cubs. Larry loved golfing, traveling, and following his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. He is survived by his children and grandchildren, Jeff (Cheri) Patterson and their children, Alyssa, Ryan and Kyle Patterson; Lisa Patterson and her son, Caden Campbell; and Jason (Carrie) Patterson and their son, Colin Patterson; his sisters, Sharron (Bob) Lower and Karla (Tom) Cooper; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Virginia Patterson. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the Norberg Memorial Home, directed to the Larry Patterson family, to be donated in his memory to benefit a charity of their choice related to Larry's passions.
