Lyndon N Butterfield

Princeton – Lyndon N. Butterfield, 83, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2019 at Liberty Village in Princeton, IL surrounded by loved ones. Lyndon was born in Bronaugh, Missouri on May 8, 1935 to the late Charley and Brooksie (Thompson) Butterfield. He was a graduate of Princeton High School Class of 1954. He married Carolyn J. Lundgren on October 23, 1955, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Princeton, IL. He worked at First State Bank of Princeton, IL. and was a volunteer firefighter as well. He then was hired on full time at the Princeton Fire Department, achieving his lifelong dream of becoming a full time firefighter and retired as an Engineer in 2001. After retirement he worked part time Hudson’s Cleaning and Restoration. He was a lifetime member of the Princeton Elks Lodge for 56 years, he was Past President of Jaycees and a Charter Member of the Princeton Moose Lodge and a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Princeton, IL. Lyndon enjoyed playing cards with his buddies and loved to dance to Big Band music. He spent hours tinkering in his shop, but his happiest times were spent with his family. He loved to dance with his wife Carolyn. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Butterfield, two sons, Roger (Becky) Butterfield and David (Mary) Butterfield; one daughter, Sandy (Thomas) Rose; five grandchildren, Katie Butterfield, Michael Butterfield and Bradley Butterfield, Ariel Rose and Miles Rose; one great granddaughter, Jordan Watson; one sister Marilyn (Dick) Weller of Macomb, IL; one sister in law, Linnaea Butterfield. As well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lyndon was preceded in death by his parents Charley and Brooksie Butterfield and one brother, William E. Butterfield. A visitation for Lyndon will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Norberg Memorial Home, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Services for Lyndon will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Scott Schmidt, followed by a graveside service at Elm Lawn Cemetery, Princeton, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Princeton Fire Department, St. Matthews Lutheran Church or Alzheimer’s Association.
