Marion Fredrickson

MARION R. FREDRICKSON Marion Russell Fredrickson was born on March 15, 1923 in Princeton, IL and passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at Colonial Hall Nursing Home in Princeton at the age of 89. He was the son of Ida and Charles Fredrickson and is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Lee, and 8 sisters, Hazel Peterson, Nellie Peterson, Norma Coffey, Ilou Beavers, Nina Goodale Lund, Julia Parker, Amelia Stauffer, Louise Laughlin. His father passed away when he was only 11, so he became a farmer at an early age. He was drafted into the Army during World War II and served from 1943 until 1946 in India where he was assigned to a missionary hospital and drove an ambulance. He was awarded several medals, including an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with a Bronze Battle Star. He married Nettie Irene Grigg of Hopkinton, IA in Princeton, IL on Dec. 19, 1948. He is survived by his wife, five children and their spouses, 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, sister-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. His children are Beverly & (Bruce) Murray of Pottsboro, TX, Susan (Mark) Herbolsheimer of Lakeland, FL, Diane & (Bill) Heller of Kasbeer, IL, Russell & (Kathy) Fredrickson of Lacon, IL and Marcia & (Mark) Caldwell of Kasbeer, IL. Grandchildren are Stacy & (Bobby) Allison, Kim & (David) Little, Christina Herbolsheimer, Scott & (Tina) Heller, Jared & (Heather) Heller, Heather & (Mike) Goodman, Jennifer Caldwell, Caleb Caldwell, Stacey & (Jeremy) Henn, Erin & (Kevin) Schultz, Kevin Schultz Jr., Kelley & (Jeremy) Hughes, and Austin Fredrickson. Great-grandchildren are Darrion, Christian, Corbin, Makayla, Colyn, Alea, Kamden, Keiren, Addison and Teagen. He retired from the Rudy-Patrick Seed Co. then after was able to enjoy many years of retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially Friday night dinners, fishing and his morning coffee group. He was a member of the American Legion Post 125 and Kiwanis Club. Rev. Norm Femrite will officiate. Visitation services will be from 4 to 7 pm at Norberg Memorial Home on Thursday, Sept. 20 with funeral services at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 21 at the First Lutheran Church of Princeton, Il. Burial will follow at Elm Lawn Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Alternatives for Older Adults, Vitas Hospice and Colonial Hall Nursing home for their love and care. Memorial gifts may be directed to Vitas Hospice and First Lutheran Church.
