Marvin Dale Frank

Peru, IL - Marvin D. Frank, 89, passed away at Aperion Care in Spring Valley on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. Marvin was born on March 25, 1934 on the family farm, west of Manlius, IL to the late Elmer and Laura (Jensen) Frank. He married Nancy Nelson on June 21, 1964 at the First Baptist Church in Princeton, IL with Reverend Everett Chambers Officiating. He was a graduate of Sheffield High School, Class of 1952, upon graduation, he joined the United States Army and served in active duty for 2 years and on the reserves for 4. After returning from the military, he worked at Johnsons Gas Station in Sheffield until 1962. He began his job at Browning Ford, Inc. in 1964 as a certified technician for over 27 years. In 1991 he purchased his own trucking business, M & N Trucking, Inc. and hauled milk. He eventually sold his trucking business in 1999 and started working as a truck driver for Helena Chemical Company, now located in Princeton, IL. He retired from trucking in 2012. Marvin was confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Manlius, IL in 1948. He was a member for 45 years of the 1st Baptist Church in Princeton, where he was a Deacon and Trustee for several years. Once the church closed its doors, he became a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Princeton, IL. in 2010. He was on the W. D. Boyce Council for Boy Scouts of America. He was involved in Scouting with his sons. His son Todd became an Eagle Scout in 1989, with his dad by his side the entire way. Marvin was a member of the Princeton American Legion Post #125, Princeton Elks Club #146, Moose Lodge #1339 and a past member of the Wyanet Antique Car Club. Surviving his wife of 59 years, Nancy Frank; two sons, Scott (Patti) Frank of Princeton and Todd (Michelle) Frank of Washington, IL; four grandchildren, Rachel (Andrew) Mann of Bettendorf, IA., Ryan Frank of Peru, IL., Colton Frank and Dylan Frank of Washington, IL.; one sister Marilyn (Ron) Birkey of Walnut; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, as well as the family fun dogs, Sylvia and Rosco. Preceded death by his parents, Elmer and Laura Frank, as well as his loyal and loving dog Buddy. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments. Services to follow Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments, officiated by Chaplin Richard Hillenbrand. Graveside services to follow at Oakland Cemetery.
