Mary Lou Hopper

Princeton - Mary Lou Hopper, 92 years young of Princeton, Illinois passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025 OSF St Claire in Princeton, Illinois. Born June 17, 1933, Mary Lou was the daughter of Walter and Mildred Fishel. Mary Lou was a longtime resident of Princeton. She loved her community and received joy volunteering to help others. She graduated from Princeton High School Class of 1951. Mary Lou married Guy Ralph Hopper (Rocky) in November 1953.Together they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and support for their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She worked at Larson Furniture Store for over 50 years as the Bookkeeper. After retirement she traveled to various locations to help with furniture liquidation sales. Mary Lou was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She participated in various women's groups thru the church, and volunteered for many funeral lunches held at the church. She loved to attend school activities for her grandchildren. One of her favorite hobbies was crocheting. Mary Lou is survived by her son Dan Hopper (Susie Wright) of Seatonville, Illinois, and two daughters Lou Ann Birkey (Joe) of Princeton, Illinois and Peg Hopper of Malden, Illinois. She is also survived by the joys of her life, her grandchildren: Luci (Kevin) Hilmes, Andrew Birkey, and Jessica (Logan) Wilde. Her amazing great grandchildren: Jeremy Hopper, Conner Workman and Lorelei Wilde. As well as multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her parents, Walter and Mildred Fishel, her husband, Guy Hopper, her son, Wes Hopper, her brother Donald Fishel, and her sister Donnabelle Anderson. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Princeton and Princeton EMS Service. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments, 701 E Thompson Street, Princeton, Il 61356. Funeral services to follow at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments with Pastor Michael Hickok officiating on Saturday, December 20, 2025, 12:00 pm.
