Neil Howard Genslinger

Princeton - Neil Howard Genslinger, affectionately known as "Bub," passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Country Comfort in Princeton, IL, surrounded by his loving family. Bub was born on January 9, 1930, in Princeton, IL, to the late Clarence and Margorie (Howard) Genslinger. Bub was raised by his Foster Parents, John and Tina Taylor. Bub graduated from Malden High School with the Class of 1948 and married the late Bonnie Grabill on September 16, 1949, who preceded him in death on November 19, 2007. Throughout his life, Bub held various roles including working at Malden Oil, Princeton Tire, and owning his own tire business. He served as the Road Commissioner for Berlin Township and dedicated most of his life to the betterment of his community. He volunteered as a firefighter for the Malden Fire Department for over 40 years. Bub's passion for community extended to coaching Little League Baseball for 25 years and being an active member of the Moose Lodge. In his leisure time, Bub enjoyed coon hunting and gardening, pursuits that brought him joy and relaxation. He was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees, following their seasons with great enthusiasm. He loved fishing and being outdoors. Spending time with family was a given and he loved to teach younger generations how to catch the big one, or the bigger one that got away. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Country Comfort for the love and exceptional care they provided to Bub during his time there. Bub leaves behind cherished memories and will be deeply missed by all who knew him Survived by one son, Michael (Marsha) Genslinger of Princeton, IL; four grandchildren Cory Griffin, Erica (Jon) Sterling, Joe (Terri) Genslinger, Chad (Rebecca) Genslinger; Seven great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; one sister Linda "Toots" Cumpton as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded by his parents, Clarence and Margorie Genslinger, as well as his foster parents, John and Tina Taylor, his wife of 58 years, Bonnie Grabill Genslinger, four brothers, and one sister. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Bonnie Genslinger Scholarship or the Malden Vets Club. A visitation for Bub will be held on Saturday July 6, 2024 at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Services to follow on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments.
