Peggy Jane Hopper

Peg Hopper age 63 of Princeton, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, June 24, at Liberty Village of Princeton, Illinois. She was surrounded by her loved ones during her last few days of life. Born September 30, 1962, Peg was the daughter of Guy and Mary Lou Hopper. Peg was a long time resident of Malden, Illinois. She loved sitting at the canal fishing, going to Indiana to visit family and watching football! Peg graduated from high school in 1980 in Indiana. Peg was a single mom and raised one daughter. She created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and support for her child and grandchildren. She worked at Dollar General for over 20 years. She served as a Manager, Assistant Manager, Head Cashier and Cashier. Everyone who went to Dollar General knew Peg. She was always very helpful and kind to her customers. Peg was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. During the last few year's of her life she helped provide care to her mother so she could remain in her home. She loved her pets and had many over the years. Her cat Nala came to visit her in the nursing home. Peg is survived by her daughter Luci Hilmes (Kevin) of Princeton, Illinois, her grandsons Jeremy Hopper of Malden, Illinois and Conner Workman (Gracie Krus) of DePue, Illinois, her brother Dan Hopper (Susie Wright) of Seatonville, Illinois, and her sister Lou Ann Birkey (Joe) of Princeton, Illinois. She is also survived by her niece Jessica Wilde (Logan) of Morrison, Illinois, her nephew Andrew Birkey of Starkville, Mississippi and her great niece Lorelei Wilde of Morrison, Illinois. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Guy and Mary Lou Hopper, her brother Wes Hopper and many Aunts and Uncles. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Princeton and Liberty Village of Princeton. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments, 701 E Thompson Street, Princeton, Il 61356.
