Robert P Dappen

Putnam, IL - Robert P. Dappen, beloved husband, father, and an active member of his local community, passed away on March 30, 2024, at OSF Peoria surrounded by his loving family. He was 80 years old. Robert, known as Bob, was born on July 25, 1943, in Chicago, IL, to the late John and Grace (Dehner) Dappen. He graduated from LaPorte High School in the Class of 1961, laying the foundation for his future endeavors. On November 19, 1969, Bob married the love of his life, Mary Jo Sharp, in a ceremony at Fish Lake, IN. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Bob dedicated many years of his life to his work as an Industrial Electrician for Polyone Chemical Plant in Henry, IL., where he retired from in 2010. Outside of his professional life, Bob was an active member of the Men's Club at Lake Thunderbird, where he formed lasting friendships. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often spending his leisure time tinkering in his workshop or cheering on his favorite NASCAR drivers. Bob was known for his "Do It Right" attitude and his ability to fix anything that came his way. He approached every task with diligence and precision. If you do it right the first time, then you won't have to redo it. Above all else, he cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he found immense joy in spending time with his loved ones. His best boy, Archie, his beloved four-legged companion. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Jo Dappen of Lake Thunderbird; three children, two sons, Michael (Heidi) Dappen of Peru, IL. and Scott (Becky) Dappen of Normal, IL. one daughter, Melissa Dappen of Chicago, IL; three Grandchildren Kaitlyn, Sophia and Ben Dappen. Preceded in death by his parents John and Grace Dappen, as well as one sister in infancy. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or ARK in Lacon, IL. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Services to follow at 6:00 p.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments officiated by Pastor Terry Broady, organist, Cheryl Bebej.
