Sharon Sue Spohn

Princeton - Sharon Sue Spohn, 82, passed away peacefully at OSF St. Clare Hospital on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 surrounded by family. Sharon was born in Ottawa, IL on November 5, 1940 to the late Henry and Mary (Smith) Vester. She was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru High School, Class of 1958. She married John Baron in 1962 whom she had three children with, Bernard Morton in 1975, whom she had one child with and she would find love again after raising her family, marrying the late Howard Spohn of Ohio, IL in Las Vegas, NV in 1987. In her early years, she worked as a waitress for several establishments in the Illinois Valley area, West-Clox in Peru as an assembly worker, and did housekeeping for Starved Rock State Park. She attended church often, becoming members of a few along the way, but always attending. She was a member of many prayer groups and always had a prayer to share for a friend, loved one or stranger. Sharon enjoyed listening to music, singing, and dancing. She was very creative and spent much of her time drawing, painting, writing poetry and song lyrics. She enjoyed watching all types of movies and loved to travel. Spending time with loved ones, family and friends was her favorite hobby though, and would happily entertain guests every chance she could. She is survived by her two daughters, Rose Storm of Sheffield, IL and Julie (Ted) Rhodes of Princeton, IL, her two sons, Sean (Jodi) Baron and Steve (Tabetha) Morton both of Princeton, IL, twelve grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two nephews, John Rydleski and Jim Rydleski, both from St. Joseph, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Vester, her sister Deanna Frietas, and her husbands, Howard Spohn and Bernard Morton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a fund for her grandchildren's college. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Michael Freeman.
