True Ellen Wahlgren

Princeton - True Ellen Wahlgren, 78, of Princeton, IL passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home onMonday, January 16, 2023. True was born on April 10, 1944 to the late William and Ellen (Rattle) Kipp in Evanston, IL. She was a graduate of Carl Schurz High School. She also graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelors of Art Degree in 1966. She met her college sweetheart and future husband, Leland "Lee" while attending Bradley. They married on June 5, 1965 at the First United Methodist Church in Oak Park, IL and celebrated more than 57 years of marriage. She worked as an Adoption Specialist for the Department of Children & Family Services, retiring in 2011 after 26 years of service. She was a member of Friends in Council, Prairie Arts Council, Hardanger's, The United Methodist Women, as well as the First United Methodist Church of Princeton. True adored her family and friends. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandkids, as she absolutely cherished each one of them. She was best known for her kind heart and generosity, often showing her love through shopping. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survived by her husband Leland "Lee" Wahlgren of Princeton, IL; children, Erick (Staci) Wahlgren of Princeton, IL, Kai (Kristine) Wahlgren of Bolingbrook, IL, Kipp (Leasa) Wahlgren stationed in South Korea and Kristian (Clancy) Wahlgren of San Diego, CA.; grandchildren, Kaiden Wahlgren, Kamden Wahlgren, Emma Wahlgren, Kelsey Wahlgren, Keegan Wahlgren, Kate Wahlgren, Drew Wahlgren, Halle Wahlgren, Lane Wahlgren and Kaleb Wahlgren. Preceded in death by her parents, William and Ellen Kipp, and mother and father-in-law, Henry and Naomi Wahlgren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Prairie Arts Council in Princeton, IL. A visitation for True will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments. Services will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 10:30 a.m, with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church of Princeton, officiated by Pastor Ryan Sutton.
